India ruled out Zaheer,Yuvraj and Harbhajansingh

India changed his team after 2nd defeat:

India have dropped Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh for the Nagpur Test. Delhi fast bowler Parvinder Awana and Saurashtra allrounder Ravindra Jadeja have received their first call-ups, and legspinner Piyush Chawla replaced Harbhajan.

Zaheer's is the biggest fall. This is the first time he has been dropped from the Test side after his rousing comeback in 2006-07. He has taken 15 wickets in eight Tests in 2012 at a strike rate of 98 balls per wicket. In this series, he has taken four scalps at a strike rate of 133. Moreover, his fielding has been below par for some time. His replacement, Awana, took 5 for 81 against Karnataka in a Ranji Trophy match a day before the selection meeting. Reputed to be brisk, Awana has taken 21 Ranji wickets at an average of 21.57 this season.

Yuvraj, called back after a double-century in the Duleep Trophy was deemed enough to prove his fitness, did not take his chance either. He scored 125 runs in five innings in the series. He has now played 40 Tests over various comebacks for three centuries and an average of 33.92.

Yuvraj's replacement, Jadeja, recently scored his third first-class triple-century in 13 months. He was dropped from India's limited-overs squads earlier this year, but the two triples in one month this season and 18 Ranji wickets at 23.72 have put him ahead of Rohit Sharma and Manoj Tiwary in the queue for a middle-order slot. Even as the squad was being debated, Tiwary was busy rescuing Bengal with 55 out of Bengal's score of 112. Four of their wickets, though, fell to Jadeja. Tiwary retired-hurt with a pulled muscle, but that happened after the squad was announced.

Harbhajan was recalled for the Tests without any improvement shown in domestic cricket, but a lacklustre show in Mumbai means he will be stuck on 99 Tests for a while. Not that his replacement, Chawla, has set the domestic scene on fire, with nine wickets at an average of 48.33.

Awana and Jadeja made it to the T20 side too. Uttar Pradesh allrounder Bhuvneshwar Kumar joined them in place of the injured Irfan Pathan. Virender Sehwag and Zaheer, left out of T20 squad, were unavailable for reasons the BCCI didn't state. Ajinkya Rahane took Sehwag's place. Harbhajan has been dropped for T20s as well.

Squad for Nagpur Test: MS Dhoni (capt & wk), Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, R Ashwin, Ashok Dinda, Pragyan Ojha, Ajinkya Rahane, Piyush Chawla, Ishant Sharma, M Vijay, Parvinder Awana.

Squad for T20Is: MS Dhoni (capt &wk), Gautam Gambhir, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Manoj Tiwary, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Piyush Chawla, Ashok Dinda, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Laxmipathy Balaji, Parvinder Awana.

Umesh Yadav will missed third test match

Umesh Yadav injured and will not play third test match against English team:

Fast bowler Umesh Yadav, who was ruled out of India's second Test against England due to a lower back injury, will miss at least the third Test of the series too, which starts in Kolkata on December 5.

Yadav, the most effective of India's pace bowlers in the series-opener in Ahmedabad, will not recover in time despite there being a prolonged break ahead of the Test. "The injury is more serious than it was thought to be, so the team will have to make do without him for at least another Test."

MS Dhoni Happy with bowlers but not with groundsmen

MS Dhoni very happy for great victory but sad on groundsmen:

After India completed a hard-fought victory over England in Ahmedabad, MS Dhoni was full of praise for his bowlers but not for the pitch that made it hard for them to force the win.

At the post-match presentation, he also appeared to have made a comment that could be construed as a veiled attack at the umpires. "They [the bowlers] had to work really hard," Dhoni said. "Not to forget we asked them to follow on, so at a stretch our spinners bowled close to 80 and 70 overs each. Fast bowlers bowled 40 overs. Umesh, I am not really sure how many he bowled. It was hard work for them. Especially if you are expected to take more than 10 wickets to get a team out."

Gautam Gambhir Flies back to home after death of his grandmother

Gautam Gambhir returned to Delhi midway through the first Test:

Gautam Gambhir has left the Indian team midway during the Ahmedabad Test against England and returned to Delhi because of the death of his grandmother. The BCCI said no decision has been reached as yet on when Gambhir will be back in action.

Gambhir did not take the field on the third evening, but was in the dressing room.

If England, who are following on and began the fourth day 219 behind with all their wickets intact, make India bat again, Gambhir is unlikely to open the innings because he has been off the field for an extended period for reasons other than an external injury.

India Beat New Zealand In 2nd Test

New Zealand Lost Test Match From India By 5 Wickets:

New Zealand coach Mike Hesson has said his side should be proud of the fact that they managed to put pressure on India, despite losing an evenly matched Bangalore Test by five wickets. After losing the first Test in Hyderabad by an innings, they fancied their chances of squaring the series in Bangalore by setting a target of 261. India stuttered, but got over the line on the fourth day after being reduced to 166 for 5.

"I think we have made huge progress in this Test. The score we operated with in the first innings (365) was more than competitive," Hesson said. "To get a first-innings lead against a quality Indian side showed that we'd made some improvements there. In the second innings the conditions were a bit tougher, we made a couple of errors at crucial times, we also could have fallen over but we didn't. We took on some players with fearful records.

"In the end, we set them a challenging a total that gave our bowlers a real chance. Sure we would have wanted more (runs). We still have to keep that positive mindset."

The defeat was New Zealand's fourth in as many Tests since the tour of the West Indies in July-August. New Zealand are at No.8 in the ICC Test rankings, above Bangladesh. Hesson admitted, thoughk that the players were disappointed they couldn't close out the game.

"We are ranked where we are for a reason, but I thought there were good signs in all areas of the game in Bangalore," Hesson said. "No one likes to lose and the dressing room was quite gutted because we put a top side under pressure, which many sides haven't been able to do in India in a long time. To put ourselves into that position and not get over the line was frustrating.

"The players are extremely hard on themselves, individually and collectively. Some talk about the inadequacies in other players to try and help them. We've got a good leadership group that's learning to lead. We're trying to get the guys to evolve so they can challenge each other and start to ask tough questions."

New Zealand left out their most experienced seamer, Chris Martin, for Tim Southee, whose 7 for 64 were the best figures for a New Zealand bowler in India. Southee's efforts helped New Zealand gain a slender first-innings lead of 12. Hesson said leaving out Martin was a "tough call" but insisted that he was definitely in the mix for future selection.

"We thought Chris bowled well in Hyderabad but we thought Tim was ready to go. He had been bowling beautifully and someone had to miss out. Chris has a lot of experience and helps pull the whole bowling group together."

Hesson said the side had a lot to learn in terms of decision making out in the middle, especially in Hyderabad, where New Zealand failed to pass 200 in both innings.

"We lost a number of wickets in the first Test because we were indecisive, whether it be to play, or leave, to push for a single or to attack. If you make the wrong decision and commit to it sometimes you can get out of trouble. We tried to ensure we didn't make those mistakes from Hyderabad in this Test."

Hesson said the players had done their best to simulate match conditions at the nets. "We have competitive nets. We create an environment in our net situation where the guys are under pressure. Very difficult of course to replicate 40,000 screaming Indians."
