S Afridi,S Ajmal and U Akmal will not play BBL's this session "PCB"

PCB has denied S Afridi,S Ajmal and U Akmal's permission to play BBL:

The PCB has denied Umar Akmal, Saeed Ajmal and Shahid Afridi permission to play this season's Big Bash League (BBL), the Australia Twenty20 league, to ensure the trio's participation in their domestic Twenty20 tournament ahead of the tour of India. Akmal had signed with Sydney Sixers and Ajmal with Adelaide Strikers for the season, while Afridi would have moved from Melbourne Renegades to Sydney Thunder.

The PCB had earlier issued the players No Objection Certificates to play in the BBL that begins on December 7. The PCB's national T20 championship is set to be played between December 2 and 10, and will be followed by a week-long conditioning camp before the team leaves for India on December 22.

Saeed Ajmal signed for BBL 2012-13

Saeed Ajmal will be seen in Big Bash League 2012-13:

Pakistan's No. 1 spinner Saeed Ajmal has signed with the Adelaide Strikers for the Twenty20 Big Bash League. He will be available for the Strikers' first match, against the Perth Scorchers, and may then return for the latter stages of the tournament.

Ajmal's signature represents a significant addition to the Strikers and the BBL, his spinning variations having teased and confused batsmen the world over in recent times, not least those of Australia.

"I am really excited about playing for the Adelaide Strikers and really happy that I will get the chance to show my talent in the BBL," Ajmal said.

"I am very keen to meet up with the rest of the boys soon and play my best in the games that I am available, with the hope that Adelaide make the final stages and I can return to help win the competition."

The Strikers coach Darren Berry said he was delighted to have signed Ajmal, the latest example of his policy of using spin as an attacking weapon on dry surfaces at Adelaide Oval.

"We know what this guy is capable of, having seen him run through both the Australian and English batsmen a couple of months ago, so to have him on board is a great result for the Strikers," Berry said.

Adelaide have also signed the South Australia wicketkeeper Tim Ludeman and the Queensland legspinner Cameron Boyce.

Modern Cricket's Modern Weapon "Doosra"

Doosra a successful weapon in this cricket era:

John Inverarity has bowled me a doosra today with his comments about the doosra and integrity. I’m genuinely not sure which way to play this one.

That he is a gentleman and a scholar there can be no doubt. His reputation as man of decency and integrity allows him the privilege of making a comment such as this with some immunity from anyone looking to take cheap shots at him. From that perspective, reading his words carefully, I can draw no hint of mischief or hypocrisy in his brave statement. Perhaps a long bow could be drawn to infer that he is pointing fingers at some bowlers but I genuinely think that to do so would be to do the gentleman an injustice. Clearly he believes that the doosra has the potential to corrupt bowling actions and he would prefer to see the Australian bowling contingent shy away from that technique. Fair enough too if that is his genuine belief.

On the other hand, I also believe that it may be a bit naïve on the part of Australian cricket, if Inverarity is speaking on behalf of the institution rather than as an individual, to encourage a policy that is clearly going to disadvantage Australia to this extent. Put simply, the doosra is arguably the most potent bowling weapon in modern cricket. Especially in limited overs cricket, it is probably the single most influential factor in giving bowling teams a sniff of hope. The fast bowlers have proved woefully inadequate in coming up with anything new to stem the flow of boundaries. In fact, their skill level has actually dropped some considerable level, evidenced by the steady diet of full tosses that are served up at least once an over when under pressure. So the doosra and the variations that followed (carrom ball) can lay claim to being the most influential game-changer. When a bowler with a good doosra comes on to bowl, I immediately sit up and take notice because there is always the chance that a game can be turned on its head. Since Shane Warne led the new spin revolution, nothing has excited me more in the bowling stakes than the perfection of the various types of doosra.

Pakistan May Boycott ICC Award Ceremony

Pakistan Give Threat To Boycott ICC Award Ceremony This Year:

Pakistan Cricket Board's chairman Zaka Ashraf decided to boycott the ICC awards ceremony of this year. Pakistan took this step after the omission of Saeed Ajmal from ICC awards list of the best bowlers of the world cricket.

However, Ashraf's comments, made during an interview to media, suggest the issue is still alive for Pakistan. "We are facing a lot of pressure from the public and from our former players to push for his inclusion," Ashraf said. "I think the ICC should check whether the independent jury is coming up with the best name and they should not give away the due right of any player in the world.

"If anyone else has more wickets than Ajmal, then we are ready to withdraw our concern and instead we will support their pick. But this isn't reflecting well of the ICC and they should rectify it.

PCB Protests Against Saeed Ajmal's omission from ICC Awards

Saeed Ajmal left off From ICC Awards Of The Year:

Expressing its concern over ICC's decision to omit off-spinner Saeed Ajmal's name from the shortlist of nominees for the annual awards, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written a letter to the ICC for reconsidering the list.

Ajmal, despite finishing as the top Test wicket-taker in the last 12 months, has not been included among the four nominees for the coveted Test Cricketer of the Year award.

"Yes, we have sent a letter to the ICC expressing our concern over Ajmal's name from the final list of nominees for the annual awards," PCB media manager, Nadeem Sarwar told PTI.

"We feel that there might have been an oversight by the ICC panel of experts and this issue needs to be reconsidered again," he said without divulging the exact details of the letter.

Former Test players, commentators and experts including former England captain Tony Greig, New Zealand's Danny Morrison and a number of ex-Pakistani cricketers have already expressed their shock over Ajmal's omission from the nominees list for the Test cricketer of the year award.

Ajmal, after being named in the ICC's Test team of the year, was left out from the shortlist of nominees for the ICC international cricketer, Test cricketer and ODI player of the year awards.

The 34-year-old finished with 72 wickets in Tests and was placed No.2 in the list of top wicket-takers for One-dayers in the period reviewed by the ICC panel of experts.

Sources in the PCB said that in the letter the Board has pointed out individual cases where players, who finished behind Ajmal, got into the final list.

"The PCB has pointed out individual cases where players who finished behind Ajmal got into the final list. They have asked the ICC to reconsider the list again," a source said.

In the past, protests from member boards have led to the ICC reconsidering the final list of nominees and changing them.

In 2010, England's spinner Graeme Swann was omitted from a shortlist but was included later after the England and Wales Cricket Board pleaded his case, while in 2009 the South Africans boycotted the ICC awards ceremony in Johannesburg over the omission of their players.

Ajmal, who is also doing well against the Australia in the ongoing ODI series in the UAE, has been in superb form in the last 12 months during which period, Pakistan played most of their matches on the slow pitches of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
